Remember that we are at your disposal at all times to offer information on the routes to take, the days on which museums and restaurants are closed, as well as to make reservations at your chosen restaurant and, even more importantly, book your entrance to Florence’s museums.
We have drawn up 7 different day trips for you, proposing different itineraries based upon the activities that have characterised our travels and experiences, as well as upon the information we receive from our guests at the end of their day.
You’re sure to find just what you’re looking for...whether you want to relax, sample typical products or visit ancient villages and places rich in culture...
If you arrive early you can begin discovering San Gimignano, famous for its towers, the cathedral with the most wonderful paintings, medivial buildings and galleries. We also recommend the path around the walls and the innermost lanes of the town with the less well-known squares, shops and bars.
After a rich buffet breakfast, start discovering Tuscany.
We suggest you begin with one of the most important towns: Siena. The carparks are close to the centre and it’s just a 5-10 minute walk to Piazza del Campo, one of the world’s most beautiful squares, particularly famous as the venue of the historic horserace, “IL PALIO DI SIENA”, held twice a year, on 02/07 and 16/08 and for the Cathedral with its colours and marble
After breakfast, the day can begin with the exploration of Volterra, a medieval town half way between San Gimignano and the sea, known and appreciated for its beautiful Etruscan Museum and the production and crafting of alabaster. Upon your return you can go for a walk in San Gimignano or visit Certaldo Alto, birthplace of Giovanni Boccaccio.
Once you’ve parked your car in the square in front of the Town Hall, you can take a cable car right to the heart of this very atmospheric medieval hamlet which will take you back in time.
Today Florence, a fantastic city where, if you organise your timetable well, you can see the most important attractions in just one day, just walking inside the historic center.
The best parking is on the Piazzale Michelangelo, easy to reach and with a spectacular view over the town. From there you’ll have to take the steps down towards the River Arno (about 20 minutes) to Ponte Vecchio. Piazzale Michelangelo is also served by buses and taxis for going back.
A day lazing around in the sun or reading a good book by the side of our pool or a trip into the Chianti area.Take the road from Poggibonsi to visit the first village Castellina in Chianti and then to Panzano, where you can stop for lunch at the famous butcher shop & restaurant “Dario Cecchini” before heading off towards Greve.On your way you can taste the excellent Chianti at one of the numerous estate along the road, and if you want we can book cellar tours on your way.
This will be a long day but there are two beautiful locations which we think are well worth visiting: Pisa and Lucca. We advise you to take the road across the hills, which will get you directly to Pisa
The only interesting thing is the Main Square with the Tower, so your visit should be quite short. Lucca instead is a beautiful town with about 100 churches, surrounded by walls which you can visit by bicycle, and of course there are bicycles available to hire.
Today you can explore the south of Siena, the “postcard” landscape of tuscany: Hill-House-Cypress. The most beautiful locations are the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, Bagno Vignoni and Pienza. Alternatively you can visit Montalcino, famous for the production of Brunello red wine and the splendid Abbey of Sant’Antimo with its Gregorian chants.
